GARDEN TREASURES & LAKES OF NORTHERN ITALY
5 days/4 nights Milan to Lake Maggiore


Day 1: MILAN
Arrival in Milan and departure to visit the historical gardens of Villa Manzoni near Milan. Villa Manzoni was built in the XVII century by the Counts Imbonati. On his death, Carlo Imbonati bequeathed it to Giulia Beccaria, a dear friend of his, and mother of the famous italian novelist and poet Alessandro Manzoni who dedicated himself to the search of exotic ornamental plants and trees. Accommodation in hotel in Milan, dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 2: MILAN – LAKE COMO
After breakfast, depart for Lake Como. Visit by private motor boat Punta Balbianello and the enchanting gardens of Villa del Balbianello. In the afternoon visit Villa Monastero, located on a headland along the eastern shore of Lake Como between Varenna and Fiumelatte, dating back to the early XIII century. The tour will proceed with the visit of Villa Melzi. The garden is planted with both native trees and shrubs and many exotics. Accommodation in hotel on Lake Como, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: LAKE COMO – LAKE MAGGIORE
Following breakfast, transfer to Verbania on Lake Maggiore and visit by private motor boat the Borromee Islands: Isola Bella and Isola Madre. Lunch in a typical lake-side trattoria. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: LAKE MAGGIORE
After breakfast, departure for Stresa on Lake Maggiore for a guided tour of Villa Pallavicino. The well maintained park, with a beautiful panoramic view above Lake Maggiore, has a magnificent collection of exotic trees. Lunch in the gardens and thereafter, visit the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 5: DEPARTURE
Breakfast in hotel. Departure.
